The assessment of water damage has been more extensive than anticipated causing damage to MMI's power supply (UPS) with power to all instrumentation and cell culture facilities disrupted.  As a result of the invesigations, there have been further delays with power to labs which is expected to be resolved by tomorrow.  Once power is restored, staff will perform system checks of each instrument to check any faults as a result of the power outage and will re-open early next week.

Security access has also been compromised.  Staff will open doors manually for business hours (8.30am to 5pm) and will have the Provis, Dotslide and Computer Lab available from tomorrow.

MMI and engineers are doing all possible to minimise disruption to user access and ensure a safe working environment.

9am 16/04/2009

MMI will now expect to re-open Friday morning.  At this stage the insurance assessor will be onsite later this morning and electrician this afternoon to restore power to labs and microscopes.  There will be a further update this afternoon.

3pm 15/04/2009

MMI expects to have power and instrumentation back online from approximately 1pm tomorrow, 16/04/2009.  Please check here tommorrow for further updates regarding access.

9am 15/04/2009

Due to severe damage to our universal power supply (UPS) on Monday night, all instrumentation in the Advanced Optical Imaging Labs will be unavailable until further notice.  We will be accessing the damage with engineers today and hope to gradually bring scopes back online.

We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and hope to minimise interruption to users.

Kind regards
MMI
